COLLECTIVE IMPACT
After the last two years, we must move forward differently, and we know that large-scale change does not happen in silos. When we think about the long-term health of our San Diego community, our children are at the nexus. That is why we are focusing on K-12 education. Every industry, every parent, and every San Diegan is affected by the health and wellness of our K-12 system. There are many organizations and leaders in San Diego attempting this work, but we are not all working in coordination. Through intentional collaboration, we believe we can improve outcomes for our students and diversify the educators who enter, remain, and advance in our K-12 system.
This will be an annual event where we bring together people and organizations committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, measure progress toward our shared commitment to close the adult educator to student representation gap, and collaborate to foster ever greater inclusive excellence.

Diversify who enters, remains, and advances in our K-12 teacher and leadership pipelines and intentionally provide resources/trainings/coaching/etc. required for a culture of inclusive excellence in our K-12 environment.
*Definition of inclusive excellence: a systems-wide approach to equity, diversity and inclusion. IE states that true excellence in an institution is unattainable without inclusion – and in fact, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to excellence. It moves away from historical approaches to diversity that focused on numbers and representation. Instead, IE helps us think about the institution as a vibrant community that can create excellence by embedding diversity throughout the institution
